Tossing Out Toxins

It’s progress over perfection at the Barlowe house, because believe me when I say- we still have toxins in this house. For example, I simply cannot let go of Clorox wipes– maybe it’s the teacher in me. I. just. can’t. However, I have made lots of changes over the past year thanks to my sweet sister in law, Erica. She is a {toxin free mama} and knows all the things when it’s comes to safe swaps. She has created an amazing community where she teaches how to eliminate toxins from our everyday lives. You can find her on instagram here or on facebook by searching toxin free mama.

Below, I am sharing some of the products that I use to get ready each day. I am getting better at knowing how to spot “clean” products, but I mostly rely on Erica and the Think Dirty app to help me steer clear of toxins. Just keeping it real!

BODY

Deodorant was the first switch I ever made. I have tried several and my favorite by far is Explore Naturals. Disclaimer- I had and still have to detox my pits. It is an extra step to detox. However, if I was only allowed to make one safe swap, I would choose deodorant- detox and all. I use a mixture of bentonite clay and apple cider vinegar to create a thick mask, swipe it on my pits, let it work it’s magic for 10-15 minutes and then jump in the shower to wash it off. In the shower, I use Dove’s sensitive skin beauty bar to wash my body and Acure Radically Rejuvenating cleansing cream for my face.

FACE

Crunchi is my jam. I have loved every single product I have tried from their company. In the morning, I use Crunchi Daylight moisturizer. It smells amazing and it’s just enough. Next, I use the Crunchi primer. I cannot say enough about the primer. It’s the first Crunchi product I tried and the reason I gave other Crunchi products a chance. It’s amazing and I’m completely convinced it got rid of scars on my face from impetigo. On top of that I use the Crunchi foundation and blush. I have never been a fan of foundation, but honestly I cannot feel it on my face. Super lightweight, yet great coverage. At night I use the night light moisturizer + Acure blue oil for extra moisture.

Blue Oil

I have not switched my products for my eyes. So the following are not toxin free or they may be. I don’t know. Progress, people, progress 🙂 For eyeshadow I use the naked pallete, eye liner is clinique, mascara is Younique. I also use Clinique eyebrow pencil and gel.

Eyeliner
Brow Pencil

New Year, New Goal

Last year, I made a goal to make 12 swaps and did it! This year I want to do 12 more! Specifically, I want to safe swaps for my toothpaste, shampoo, conditioner, lotion, hand sanitizer. So please share if you have amazing swaps that you absolutely love because I may love them too!
