Weekly Duties

I love to do lists. Making a to do list makes me so happy… almost as happy as crossing something off the to do list. I seriously buy notebooks just for creating to do lists. I am a teacher at heart, what can I say?

Soon after I got married, I became very overwhelmed with cleaning….. thus enters the weekly “to do” list. We actually call it weekly duties because Nacho Libre said it best, “Maybe I am not meant for these duties”. I digress.

I have tried using apps to clean. I have tried just cleaning when things need cleaned. I have tried setting reminders on my phone to clean. It just didn’t work for me. So we hang this bad boy on our refrigerator. The goal is to have everything crossed off by the end of the week. Honestly, it looks like a lot but everything, and I mean everything, is listed. Yay for crossing more things off. I know, it’s sick.

This works for us. It may not work for you. If you’d like to give it a try, I am including an editable version below so you can tweak it for yourself.

I’ve shared this with friends before and here are some common questions I’ve had.

  • Do you always get to everything every week? Nope.
  • You honestly clean your bathroom every week? Yes. When I clean it weekly, it is quick and not too much to clean because it’s only been a week since I’ve last cleaned it.
  • You only wash dishes once a week??? No, a few things are listed on here that we do nightly or a few times a week. For example, dishes, sweep, clutter clean up, etc.

Pretty simple, huh? Let the cleaning begin!!!
